Orientation is required for all students who will be starting classes in the Fall term.

    First Year Convocation

The First Year Convocation (FYC) welcomes new students to the University community. FYC is held in Calihan Hall and marks a positive start for students as they begin their first semester at Detroit Mercy.

New Detroit Mercy students are led in processional by a bagpiper (similar to Commencement) and greeted with the sound of "Alma Mater" played by the Detroit Mercy Pep Band.

After the keynote address and recessional, students and administrators mingle and enjoy a lunch at patio table under tents with festive music.
